Dear Members
As summer begins to wind down, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who helped make this year's Spirit of America Golf Classic such a tremendous success.

Thank You, Volunteers!

We are incredibly grateful to all of our members who volunteered their time and talents during The Spirit. Because of your generosity and support, we expect to donate approximately $30,000 back to local nonprofit organizations in our communityβ€”a new record for the tournament! Your dedication continues to make a meaningful difference, and we couldn't have done it without you.

Congratulations to Our Champions

Congratulations to Rawlins Sutter on winning the Alabama State Junior Championship for the second consecutive year!Β Β

Congratulations also to Riley Heath for capturing the Alabama State Amateur Championship.

We would also like to wish Riley Heath and Bailey Sutter the very best as they compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship, August 10–16.

Congratulations to Bailey as well on signing with The University of Alabama, where he will continue his golf career this fall. We are proud to have these outstanding young golfers representing Burningtree.

Course Update

Greens

Our greens have recently been aerified and top-dressed several times. The abundant rainfall we've received has slowed the recovery process, but with the warmer temperatures expected this week, we anticipate the greens will be back in excellent condition well before the Member/Guest Tournament.

We will continue mowing the greens at 0.105 inches, which is the lowest height we can maintain while preserving their health and playability.

Fairways

Following the Member/Guest Tournament and before the end of August, we will be replacing sections of fairway on Holes #15 and #18 with new sod.

There is only one contractor in our area with the specialized equipment needed to strip, level, and prepare the fairways for new sod, and this was the earliest available time on his schedule. He completed the work on Holes #2 and #5, and the results have been outstanding. We look forward to seeing the same improvement on Holes 15 and 18.

Driving Range

Our long-awaited shipment of new range balls has finally arrived and is now in use.

A special thank you to Alex for doing an outstanding job maintaining the driving range tee. His hard work has made a noticeable difference.

We also expect our new driving range mats to arrive any day.

Member/Guest Tournament

The 2026 Member/Guest Tournament will be held August 14–16.

Friday, August 14, will serve as the practice day and will include a separate afternoon competition. Contact the Golf Shop for additional details.

As of today, we have 31 teams registered, and we would love to reach 50 teams. If you've been thinking about playing, now is the time to sign up and invite a guest!

Each participant will receive:

  • Tee gifts valued at more than $300
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday
  • Breakfast and lunch on Sunday
  • Complimentary beer and wine throughout Saturday and Sunday

Let's work together to reach 50 teams by the end of this week!

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing everyone at the club.
